The yellow church on the right is built over the Holy Caves, discovered by the monks centuries ago. The caves are used as burial ground for the deceased monastery residents. The town of Pskov is located nearby in its watershed - the Velikaia River that passes through the town flows into Pskov Lake. The uniqueness of this particular bania is in its location. Not only it provides a great view, it is also built right above a natural fresh water spring, which constantly fills a large tub inside with the freshest, cleanest, and coldest water. It was a spring time, when the snows melted and the rivers flooded the fields and forests and the hares were saving their lives by getting at the tip of a tiny island which was about to disappear under the water.
